Back Stroke Indicator

A Backstroke Indicator is a specialized overhead marker system installed above swimming lanes to signal approaching turns to backstroke swimmers. These indicators are essential in both training and competitive swimming, helping athletes maintain proper orientation in the water and execute precise flip turns without violating lane or wall-touch rules.

Used extensively in competition pools, training facilities, and aquatic centers, backstroke indicators enhance swimmer awareness, reduce disorientation, and support performance consistency.

  • Tension the line tightly to prevent sagging and ensure uniform flag distribution.

Maintenance and Safety

  • Rinse flags periodically with fresh water to remove chlorine buildup.
  • Inspect cables or ropes for fraying or wear; replace damaged components promptly.
  • Store indoors during extended off-seasons or when not in use for long periods.
